White Stone, The
Christie Hart Lips
The White Stone follows a disgruntled faculty executive as she follows her intuition and heads out West and ends up at White Stone Ranch. There she meets a small group of mysterious and interesting people who show her not only what she was missing in life, but what the meaning of her life is.
"I started wandering around my apartment, looking at things. It was the first time in three years that I had really looked at my apartment. It was full of black lacquer, mirrors, and chrome. The eyes of the CEO of my company stared at me from the pile of business magazines on the coffee table. I went to the refrigerator. Ketchup and mustard were in their standard and perpetual spot in the refrigerator door. A jar of my aunt's apple butter covered with mold was also in the door. Two frozen Lean Cuisines occupied the freezer.
"I sat down on my blue leather couch. My life had become a Lean Cuisine dinner, dried-up and frigid, separated in predictable plastic compartments."
Bio: CHRISTIE HART LIPS received a BS in Electrical engineering and MA in Counseling from the University of Missouri in Columbia. She now lives on her ranch in Colorado with her husband and their two children. The White Stone is her first novel.
