Trieste Chronicles, The
A Donald S. Ellis Book
George Tsongas

Reflecting upon the soul of North Beach's Cafe Trieste, George Tsongas successfully captures the energy of San Francisco's valuable social landmark with The Trieste Chronicles.

Review: "George observes quietly, carefully, cuts away the dross, stores information for future poetic use, as he did by gleaning the energy flow from the North Beach Cafe Trieste culture for Trieste Chronicles."
-Joyce Metzger, JVC Books

"George Tsongas is a North Beach cultural treasure. His poems in Trieste Chronicles are infused with a bittersweet flavor and rich imagery befitting the energetic and complex culture of one of San Francisco's beloved landmarks."
-Peter Maravelis, City Lights Booksellers and Publishers

"In the best tradition of the poet chronicler, San Francisco poet George Tsongas presents us with an unexpected gift in his Trieste Chronicles - a chronicle of biting poetic interpretation and commentary whose dryness is found not in fact but wit."
-Pat Ackerman, Thin Ice Press

"George Tsongas' poems are tightly knit observations that take shape and form like a finely woven tapestry... Tsongas is one of the true masters of the short poem and this book adds to his already considerable reputation."
-A.D. Winans, author of San Francisco Streets

"The poems by George Tsongas in Trieste Chronicles speak with insightful observations of everyday people doing everyday things - and he does it with humor, grace, and a style all his own."
-Dave Church, poet and publisher
