Sight of the Lord, The
Curie Nova
Georgia Willingham, an embittered African American woman, travels to Memphis, Tennessee, her childhood home, to find purpose in her life. She tape records Alonzo, a burned-out Vietnam vet, relives her long walk home on the day that Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated, and confronts the ghosts from her past. Still, Georgia is plagued with not finding out what gnaws at her-until she enters what once had been her parents' bedroom. There she has an epiphany, a miraculous vision that gives her lasting meaning and contentment.
"We were in the home stretch to Memphis. I pulled out my notes for a book I felt compelled to write. My mission was set. I was determined to discover why, after all those years of civil rights marches, peace rallies, Marvin Gaye songs, equality slogans, government grants, and awareness groups, people everywhere, including myself, were growing less peaceful by the hour and the shell of discontent seemed to be hardening more with each passing day."
Bio: CURIE NOVA has been writing since she was eight, including songs, short stories, and poetry. She grew up in the deep South, traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad. Curie lives in Florida and is currently working on her next novel.
