PARTS UNKNOWN is a mystery in more ways than one. A bank is robbed in the small town of Bottleneck, Texas, and the police force is stumped. When blackmail and lying become a part of Carter's daily life, the real mystery is how much of this he can take before he cracks.
Carter hung [his] commendation back on the wall, then walked over to the window and stared out at the quiet street. It would be several hours before the tiny south-Texas town began waking up. He lay on the bed and began searching for familiar faces amid the swirls of the plaster ceiling. Finding none, he rolled over onto his side. "Things always look better in the morning," he mumbled into his pillow.
