Jim Schultz subtly reminds us that the nation and the U.S. Navy routinely invested enormous responsibility in young inexperienced men in WWII, and that they not only performed well, but in many instances, heroically. Since America will never again mobilize for war and call upon its youth to the extent it did for WWII, it is well that Jim has preserved and shared with us his naval experiences and those of his shipmates.
