Jazz Age Murders
Kathleen Anne Fleming
The Jazz Age Murders is the tale of an enigmatic, spirited Jazz club in Chicago's North side. Cleary's Jazz Club is a host to a strange cast of characters, who become suspicious after a young woman is found dead. A friend of this now permanently sleeping soul takes an interest in the club, and discovers that nothing is what it seems-at Cleary's, murder is nothing new and everyone there, including the musicians, has a reason to keep quiet. It is up to our heroine to figure out who is killing and why this web she has entangled herself in is affecting the rest of her life so deeply.
Review: "[I]ts words cut to the quick of a menacing family secret coursing through the veins of an enigmatic jazz musician. One doesn't read the Northfield's author's latest mystery as much as listen to its ominous, seductive rhythms that slink in and out of reality." -Lucia Mauro Pioneer Press
"The Jazz Age Murders is a fast-paced read....The author's knowledge of music and obvious familiarity with the world of jazz and professional musicians give this lively story an engaging verisimilitude that sweeps the reader along." -Naomi G. Smith Author
"In this good, fast read Fleming renders the Chicago scene, music gigs, and the complications of a full cast of characters into a fresh, well-researched milieu. Something here for antique buffs as well but that's only one of the surprises in this full and stylish mystery." -Fran Podulka Author
