Guardian Angel

Jim Chriss

Mike Kostanski, the "afternoon man" outside the Oval Office is a dedicated Secret Service agent called to testify before the Grand Jury about women who visited the President. Kostanski reluctantly opts to tell the truth - but false logbooks doctored by White House operatives convince the Grand Jury that Kostanski lied, leading to his perjury conviction.

The President's connections get Kostanski a job as a security agent for the Grantland Corporation, but his ethical problems only get worse. Grantland is involved in a host of illegal activites including accounting subterfuge, tax evasion, weapons transfer to foreigh powers, treason and murder.

Kostanski is in possession of evidence that could bring down the President, but Grantland executives must keep Mike from talking if they are to continue using the White House to enable their illegal and very profitable activities. Kidnap, frame-ups, and several murders later, the President and the Grantland Corporation battle Kostanski in a bitter struggle for survival.

A unique sting operation, powerful action and suprising twists and turns throughout lead to a heart-pounding climax.

Review: "The book is fast-paced, well-written, and somewhat amazing for a first effort. The price is right, the work engrossing, and the pleasure in reading it, intense. Don't miss this one."
-Sandor Burstein, Nob Hill Gazette

"Chriss' potboiler, "Guardian Angel:"?the story of Mike Kostanski, a Secret Service agent charged with guarding a President? In the book's opening line, Kostanski asks himself: I would die for him, but should I lie for him? ?there's a lot going on in the story."
-Paula Voell, The Buffalo News

"With Enron, Adelphia, WorldCom and countless other corporations facing fraud charges, as well as political scandals rocking Washington, D.C., the timing for the book is right on?those in power protected themselves at his expense?"
-Sean O'Neil, Night & Day

"...a fascinating book. "
-Joyce Kryszak, WBFO
