GATO NEGRO BOOKS

Gato Negro Books attempts to provide a space in which new writing from the Latin Americas can reach the American reader and help create a different awareness: an awareness of that other American, the one writing outside of these borders. At the same time Gato Negro attempts to put within reach of the reader the poetry and the prose written in other countries, such as Spain, where the influence of the literature from the Americas is notable. Gato Negro Books is also interested in works about the Americas – non-fiction, plays, and screenplays will be upcoming.

Gato Negro Books seeks to become a meaningful source and a point of reference for both the general public and the scholars who are interested in these authors and somehow have not had access to them.

The Editor of Gato Negro Books is journalist, poet, novelist and literature professor Juvenal Acosta, who has recently published the first book to appear under the new imprint: The Tattoo Hunter. The original version of The Tattoo Hunter¯El Cazador de Tatuajes¯was published in Mexico City to wide critical acclaim.
