Emotional Cleansing is a guide to psychological and physical well-being based on the concept of "emotional toxins," the tensions resulting from years of stressful situations and inhibition of natural release mechanisms.
In an easy, anecdotal style, using examples from his own life and from his years as a counselor at the Holistic Learning Center, Marty Klein describes the negative effects of these toxins and offers directions and techniques for releasing them.
"Emotional cleansing is very similar to cleansing the body of sweat and dirt from a day's work," he says. "The only difference is we are cleaning the emotional body. When we've worked through all the inhibitions or compulsions, pretenses, denials or neurotic obsessions acquired from our earlier training, then the cleansing of the emotional body can become second nature."
Review: "A wise and compassionate guide to inner ecology. With humor and compassion, Marty Klein shows us how to recognize when we are struggling with emotional pollutants, and how to transform them. Full of healing concepts and wonderful anecdotes."
-Jalaja Bonheim, author of The Hunger for Ecstasy
"Simple, beautiful and clear, this little book holds the key to the healing of the heart that is essential for the future of our planet."
-Rudolph Ballentine, MD, author of Radical Healing
"In a world beset by violence and self-hatred it offers down-to-earth, practical advice to individuals handicapped by anger, frustration, and other barriers to a richer, fuller life. I would hope it would be read by anyone interested in rehabilitation, and most particularly by their patients."
