Captain, The

Seymour Shubin

When a nurse is killed, the police swarm in, and of course they take their time to pay their respects to the Captain. When certain, greedy landlords on the outside are killed, how could the captain be involved? And when a doctor who is negligent and cruel to his elderly patients has his own life threatened, the reader knows the curious pleasure of anticipating justified revenge. This taut and engrossing tale lets us step inside the Captain's head as the book builds to its shattering series of climaxes.

Review: "A towering novel that builds to a heart-clutching peak and leaves one profoundly affected."
Publishers Weekly

"Shubin is one of those making the art of mystery."
Tony Hillerman
