Beyond The Golden Gate Bridge

Ireneo D. Gangcuangco

San Francisco, or the so-called "Baghdad by the Bay," is haunted by suicides-nine hundred and ten at last count, according to Inspector Theodore Vidal. And that is far too many for his tastes. Aside from the suicides on the bridge, Vidal begins to investigate other suicides that have occurred around the country-from Michigan to Oregon. These supposed suicides, however, are tainted by the means of death. The deceased-or are they victims?-all leave traces of strange chemical compounds in death's wake. The plot thickens when Vidal and his sidekick, Adele Whitney, begin investigating a certain group of doctors...

"It was cheap to jump from the Golden Gate Bridge; there was no charge for the suicides who never thought that Baghdad by the Bay would pay for recovering their bodies, for their autopsies and storage and eventual burial or cremation. Suicides can be a selfish lot, mused the inspector as he glanced once more at the vista of the bridge that seemed unending."

Bio: IRENEO D. GANGCUANGCO is a self-proclaimed "tabula rasa." He lives in Alameda, California and is currently working on other fiction and religious writings.
